متن کاملThe black holes of topologically massive gravity
We show that an analytical continuation of the Vuorio solution to three-dimensional topologically massive gravity leads to a two-parameter family of black hole solutions, which are geodesically complete and causally regular within a certain parameter range. No observers can remain static in these spacetimes. We discuss their global structure, and evaluate their mass, angular momentum, and entro...
متن کاملMassive Elementary Particles and Black Holes in Resummed Quantum Gravity
We use exact results in a new approach to quantum gravity to show that the classical conclusion that a massive elementary point particle is a black hole is obviated by quantum loop effects. Further phenomenological implications are discussed.
متن کاملWarped AdS3 black holes in new massive gravity
We investigate stationary, rotationally symmetric solutions of a recently proposed three-dimensional theory of massive gravity. Along with BTZ black holes, we also obtain warped AdS3 black holes, and (for a critical value of the cosmological constant) AdS2 × S as solutions. The entropy, mass and angular momentum of these black holes are computed. ∗Email: [email protected]
متن کاملBlack Holes and Massive Elementary Particles in Resummed Quantum Gravity †
Einstein's general theory of relativity poses many problems to the quantum theory of point particle fields. Among them is the fate of a massive point particle. Since its rest mass exists entirely within its Schwarzschild radius, in the classical solutions of Einstein's theory, the respective system should be a black hole. We address this issue using exact results in a new approach to quantum gr...
